About the Author

Sig Watkins

I grew up on Ghostbusters, Aliens, and Terminator. Later, it was Stephen King, Heinlein, and Orson Scott Card. Science fiction and horror shaped the way I see the world — but I rarely saw protagonists who looked like me in any of it.

So I decided to write them.

The Last Marshal grew out of a simple question: what if one of history’s most extraordinary Black heroes, a man the history books nearly forgot, was dropped into the far future at the moment humanity needed saving most?

I’m based in Southern California, where I spend my time writing, reading Scientific American, listening to Star Talk, and introducing my kids to my favorite sci-fi novels.

My daughter’s name is inspired by one of my favorite sci-fi characters. She has no idea yet.
